Core Human Stats and Threat Assessment

Human characters begin each round with standard Roblox attributes: 100 health points, 16 walkspeed, and 50 jump power. Infected opponents possess 110 health points and naturally higher base walkspeed. This mobility deficit means running in a straight line on open ground favors the pursuer.

Smilers eliminate survivors through melee contact and grabs. Once an infected player grabs a human, the survivor becomes immobilized and rapidly takes damage until turning into a Smiler. Surviving encounters requires understanding these mechanical vulnerabilities before advancing through the stages.

Defense StrategyRecommended ScenarioResource Cost or Trade-off

Essential Starting Weapons and Grab Escapes

The NPC Rob sits behind the counter at the spawn lobby and supplies two free starter defense items: the bat and the glass bottle. The bat inflicts reliable stun duration and base damage, while bottles break on contact to deal fast burst damage. Attempting to take duplicate weapons prompts Rob to decline additional hand-outs until the held weapon breaks.

Grabs represent the primary cause of infection during a match. When seized by an infected player, a human cannot strike back with standard tools unless specific defensive items sit in their hotbar. Holding or carrying a knife enables immediate breakout mechanics, freeing the player from the attacker's grip while consuming item durability. Shotguns and handguns also allow weapon use during grabs, permitting point-blank defensive shots. When wielding a katana, players gain a slight walkspeed boost and rapid swings, making it easier to maintain distance while retreating toward safe checkpoints.

Environmental Hazards and Safe Boundaries

Movement paths across the stages feature two colored light systems that dictate survival zones:

  • Infecting light appears as bright white tiles and pads, often marked by overhead cameras. Stepping on or getting dragged into these pads causes instant infection.
  • Depressing light manifests as transparent orange barriers located at spawn, Harpoon Hallway, and the fortress wall at the end of the mountain. Humans pass freely through orange barriers, while standard Smilers die instantly upon touching them.

During disasters like mountain collapses, rising lava or flash floods force all survivors toward the next stage safe zone. The fortress at the mountain summit features a toggleable depressing light gate, creating a secure holdout against incoming infected waves. If infected during a run, survivors can look for the swamp of sadness, where rising water pools purge the infection and restore the player to human form without counting as a death.

Squad Coordination and Movement Tactics

Solitary humans represent easy targets for high-speed infected players. Moving in groups of three or four neutralizes the 10-point health advantage of attackers. When an infected player lunges and grabs a teammate, nearby survivors can strike the attacker with bats and bottles to break the grab before the infection bar completes.

Turning on Shift Lock provides precise directional camera control, assisting with quick corner turns, narrow obby jumps, and backward jumps that keep attackers at weapon range. In objective modes like elimination mode, survivors must hold out for five minutes against initial host selections. Hiding in high spots or behind environmental traps stalls infected variants, while firearms reward accurate aim by dealing 1.5x to 2x damage multipliers on headshots.
