Infectious Smile How to Play: Rules, Controls, and Survival Guide

In Roblox Infectious Smile, players spawn as humans who must scavenge weapons and evade infected smilers, or spread the infection by grabbing survivors with left-click to turn everyone into grinning hostiles before the round ends.

Core Objectives and Faction Roles

Infectious Smile splits players into two competing factions: uninfected humans and infected smilers. Humans start in safe spawn areas equipped with tools supplied by Rob, an NPC stationed behind a desk. Surviving humans must traverse map stages, fend off attackers, avoid infection sources, and withstand environmental disasters such as rising lava or collapsing rock formations.

Smilers represent the infected side, identifiable by the distinctive Winning Smile face asset. A smiler seeks out humans, grabs them with empty hands, and drains their health or carries them directly into infection hazards. Once a human loses their health while grabbed or touches an infecting hazard, they join the smiling team. Smilers have 10 percent higher base health than humans and automatically turn their heads toward the closest living survivor. If an infected player falls into the swamp of sadness during stages where water rises, the water cleanses the infection and restores them to human status without consuming a life.

Basic Controls and Interface Mechanics

Movement relies on standard Roblox navigation keys. Players move with WASD and control camera orientation using the mouse. Pressing Left Click (M1) swings equipped weapons when playing as a human, or initiates a grab attack when playing as a smiler with no item held. The F key interacts with environmental chests, weapon racks, and NPCs.

Toggling Shift Lock gives precise handling during fast chases and jump maneuvers. Smilers cannot sprint faster on command, but their default walk speed exceeds human running speed. Humans must rely on weapon stuns, knockbacks, and team coordination to maintain distance. Environmental blocks also feature distinct color properties: bright white glowing blocks cause instant infection upon contact, whereas transparent orange blocks, known as depressing light, kill smilers instantly while allowing humans to walk through unharmed.

Match Modes and Win Conditions

The primary game mode sends survivors through four consecutive obstacle stages leading toward the fortress wall at the end of the mountain. Survivors must manage weapon durability and reach safety before disasters trigger a mountain collapse. The fortress provides a gate reinforced with depressing light that players can toggle on and off to filter out chasing smilers.

In elimination mode, the server provides a 30-second preparation period. All players begin as humans to collect gear and take defensive positions across the map. When the countdown ends, five random players transform into host smilers. Humans win if at least one survivor remains alive after five minutes. The smiler faction wins if every survivor becomes infected before time expires.

In build and survive, matches divide into two distinct five-minute halves. During the afternoon phase, jump heights increase to seven blocks, allowing players to build bases using wood, concrete, and steel blocks. At night, jump heights drop back to two blocks, and smilers spawn with explosive bombs to breach human shelters. Surviving humans receive 80 coins at round completion, while a winning smile host receives 70 coins, alongside five bonus coins per kill or infection.

Decision Guide: Primary Human Defense Options

Choosing appropriate gear from weapon racks or crate drops dictates whether a survivor can escape an ambush or hold off multiple attackers.

Equipment OptionTactical RolePrimary Trade-Off
Baseball BatCrowd defense and starter meleeLow damage output with standard cooldown timers
Combat KnifeSelf-defense against smiler grabsLimited durability or tied to the paid VIP game pass
Tree BranchHigh-damage burst strikes on single targetsSlow movement speed and long cooldown penalties on misses
KatanaRapid continuous swings and mobilityWeak damage per hit requiring extended strike chains

Holding a knife in reserve is the most reliable counter to close-range attacks. When a smiler grabs a player carrying a knife, the survivor can break the hold immediately and switch to secondary weapons to eliminate the attacker.

Tactical Strategies for Humans and Smilers

Humans survive longest by moving in organized groups. A single human caught alone by a smiler cannot break free without a knife or firearm. When traveling in pairs or squads, teammates can strike the attacking smiler with bottles or bats, interrupting the grab and protecting each other. Humans should avoid camping near the edges of high drop-offs, as falling triggers a ragdoll state that leaves characters unable to act for several seconds.

Smilers should avoid attacking fortified human squads alone. Instead, infected players should approach from blind spots or wait until humans expend weapon durability. Dragging captured survivors into bright white infecting lights converts them much faster than waiting for health drain. Smilers with special traits, such as the big head overseer mutation, should relay survivor hiding spots to teammates, while potion users should target barricades to force humans into open territory.
